Option 1: Retake the STAAR
Students can retest during the next administration window. This works for some, but for seniors who have already retaken the exam, more attempts often produce the same result without addressing the underlying issue.
Option 2: Individual Graduation Committee (IGC)
Public schools can convene an IGC for some students, but availability and outcomes vary widely by district, and the option does not exist for students who have already left the public school system.
Option 3: STAAR Redemption Through Texas Alternative Home School
STAAR redemption is a Texas state law compliant pathway that uses an alternative assessment instead of the STAAR EOC. Students with 18+ credits can usually finish within weeks and receive a real high school diploma.
