GENERAL ALTERNATIVE HOME SCHOOL FAQS
No, Texas Alternative Home School is Texas state law compliant. TAHS files, and is recognized by the state of Texas as a nontraditional, nonprofit, private, secondary education “home” school. We also file with the federal government as a 501c3. Our graduates are considered equivalent with public high school and GED graduates per Texas state law.
There is no age limit! If you have the desire to learn and improve yourself, we are ready and able to enroll you and help you achieve your goals.
Yes, you can absolutely enroll even if you are from another country! We transfer and enroll students from different countries all around the world. If you have academic credits to transfer, we will work with you to transfer them when possible.
TAHS does not offer scholarships, however, Dr. Clark will consider payment arrangements on a case-by-case basis as needed. His goal is to help students graduate with a high school diploma and official transcript so they can move on to be successful in life. Our school’s goal is to help you move in a positive direction without further delay.
Yes, TAHS hosts a traditional graduation ceremony for our graduates! We hold our graduation ceremonies in June and July each year. Ask your TAHS director when your graduation is scheduled for this year.

ALTERNATIVE HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA FAQS
Texas Alternative Home School graduates can successfully enroll and apply for FAFSA at any college or university in the state of Texas as nontraditional, nonprofit, secondary education “home” school graduates. There should be no reason, whatsoever, that our graduates should be discriminated against by any college or university by not being allowed to enroll and apply for FAFSA just as any other public high school or GED graduate.
TAHS graduates have the right to enlist in any U.S. military branch, pending the successful completion of 15 college credit hours at any college of their choice. Courses taken must be categorized as “1,000” level courses in order to qualify as creditable hours. Graduates are also required to successfully complete the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test. Available military resources may also be found at March2Success.com
You do not have to have a social security card, but please make sure you bring a form of government-issued ID and your previous school’s transcript, if available.
Since Texas Alternative Home School is Texas state law compliant, our graduates can use their diploma and official transcript just as any other public high school graduate can.
